American Torture

I'm basically speechless about this.

This was not a rogue operation. This was the considered and bullshit-justified policy of the Bushists. In previous conflicts, men were executed for this. I'd settle for prison sentences.

You know, I've written a couple responses to issues like this involving my hypothesis that Bush and co. are able to get away with the horrendous amount of obvious atrocities that they've committed because people no longer have the energy required to really understand the issues going on today. Not to mention, they have no reward for doing so other than being part of an informed citizen body capable of putting a halt to these sorts of disasters before they happen. That doesn't exactly suffice as a good reason for Joe Schmoe to devote hours of his time to research and learning when he could way more easily stagnate in his recliner with beer and Walker Texas Ranger.

So far, I've deleted those responses because I have no idea what they add to the discussion. Of course, I also no longer have any idea what posting about these torture issues accomplishes.

I basically have come to a point of helplessness. I have no idea what we can do. What do we do? It's unbelievably horrendous to me that Bush and his administration are free of any consequence for their actions and that Democrats aren't planning on doing anything about it and that furthermore, a quarter of the population still thinks Bush and his administration were just dandy.

Does anyone have any sort of semblance of a good idea as to how we do something about this, or should we just go watch Walker Texas Ranger?
