Quick question: the Republicans aren't seriously considering nominating Fred Thompson, are they?
One actor is embarrassing.
Two is enough to stir up a few extra worries about the idea of democracy.
I'm going to go way out on a limb here and say: playing a lawyer on the teevee is not a qualification for the presidency.
Jeez, these Republican candidates are starting to make the Democratic candidates look better to me.
Which is basically the way this process has always played itself out in the past, so I guess I shouldn't be surprised.

Thompson has more national experience than Obama, who's not a bad actor himself. ;-)
Yeah, but 'more national experience than Obama' is like 'more charm than Howard Dean' or 'more warmth than Dick Cheney'...
And there in a nutshell is the problem with this site. Feh.
Even the Republicans have now realized that they need a candidate who can read his lines, so Fred Thompson is the perfect Republican Presidential candidate. He has Hollywood gravitas, he has a deep, resonant voice, he's reliably conservative, he won't think outside the box, and his movie and TV roles have all been serious and unembarrassing.
McCain's too old but still the front-runner. I discount Rudy G - too many pictures of him in too many different dresses. Brownback who? Newt's a laughingstock, though he does appeal to the rabidly passive-aggressive.
